Substance Abuse Treatment for Youth

Rivendell of Arkansas offers a dual diagnosis track for kids and teens suffering from co-occurring substance abuse issues and psychiatric disorders. This acute inpatient track helps stabilize the young patients in crisis through therapy and medication management if needed, so they can begin to understand long terms effects of substance abuse on the body and the mind and start focusing on recovery.

Group, individual and family therapy sessions help teach kids and teens along with their families about the risks and potential complications of minors experimenting with drugs and other harmful substances or addictive behaviors. Our staff takes into account the social, educational, and medical ramifications of drug and alcohol abuse to help patients and families develop coping skills and emotional courage to continue the lifelong recovery process.

Our Medical Director, Dr. Gary Tharp, works with the patient and therapist to create a treatment plan designed to safely re-integrate the youth into their home environment and to a community where support services are accessible. A case manager will assist in scheduling a follow-up outpatient appointment before discharge to ensure the family and the patient have a clear path to recovery in aftercare.

It’s never too early to reach out for help if you believe your child or teen may be struggling with a substance abuse problem. Download our guides to learn more about the symptoms & health effects of commonly abused drugs and how to spot the warning signs of substance abuse.
